Have you ever had a pet that ran away? Did you eventually find her or him? If not, how long did it take you to recover?

My cat, Girl, ran away the same time my dog died a year and a half ago. We'd rescued two new kittens and she was angry. She never came to my room anymore, and she wouldn't approach me at all. I was devastated; my dog had just died and my best friend had run away. We put fliers up all over town, and each call was one disappointment after the next.
Eventually, we got a call from the humane society. They said they had an old female cat that looked like ours. They said she wasn't eating or drinking, and she only had a few days left until they were going to put her to sleep. Of course, this wasn't our cat. Poor baby was skin and bones and severely dehydrated. We took her to the vet and discovered she was actually a he and he was really only a few years old, at the most.
It's taken me a long time to recover from both of these losses. I think, maybe, Girl was taken in by another family. Our cats didn't have collars then. They certainly do, now, though.

So, I'm basically stalking ladymanson 's journal, and I'm finding really fun memes. She gave me a list of actors and actresses to name my favorite movies they've been in.

1. Jim Carrey - I find Jim Carrey pretty obnoxious, but The Truman Show was really cute.
